Through the visionary leadership of Graham Choice, and as a direct response to Government's Skills Development strategy, The Learnership Centre was set up as a Lead Training Provider in partnership with a cluster group of Clothing and Textile firms.

Implementation of the Skills Development legislation through the introduction of the Learnership Programme, and showcasing the potential of the Clothing Sector to create jobs for unemployed youth, The Learnership Centre was visited by the then President Thabo Mbeki on the 29th August 2003.

On the 18th October 2010, the Western Cape Learnership Centre (Clothing) (Pty) Ltd would also go onto launch its new campus situated at 13 Sydow Street, Maitland. The Minister of Economic Development and Tourism, Minister Alan Winde, along with the then CEO of the FP&M SETA, Mr PK Naicker, along with our social partners SACTWU represented by Ms Freda Oosthuizen, would officiate the launch of the newly acquired and renovated premises.

During the 2012 academic year, the College would continue to grow from strength to strength, focusing on the provision of a high standard of education and training to all of its Client Sites.

In 2013 and 2015 we saw success as we were awarded 3 certificates of recognition from the FP&M SETA. These were in recognition of 1. Work Placement and Opportunity, 2. Excellent Contribution to Skills Development in Fibre, Processing, and Manufacturing, as well as 3. Recognition as a Centre of Excellence.

Trading under the abbreviation of TVET SA, 2016 would see the College solidify its scope of offerings to include Learnership Programmes, Skills Programmes and Short Courses. This was coupled with an active participatory involvement in the development of new Occupational Qualifications for the Clothing Sector.

Our continued growth has seen achievement at the Africa Employment Engagement Awards as we took home the award for Sustainable Futures in South Africa, as well as the silver award for Best Practise in Skills Development by the National Skills Authority.
