Our current menu of skills development programmes addresses skill gaps pertaining to specific technical skills applicable in the production areas of a manufacturing concern and/or critical skills such as quality assurance and control, productivity, and supervisory/team leader skills development, amongst others.
Skills development programmes are tailored to provide both knowledge and practical skills to participants, with an emphasis on workplace application.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Existing Sewing Machine Mechanics and or Individuals involved in sewing machine repair and maintenance processes within a clothing manufacturing firm.
LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE
Learners will have attained an ABET Level 4 qualification or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 2 (Grade 10) or must have had at least 1 years working experience within an industrial sewing environment.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This skills development programme is designed to meet the needs of learners who are involved in sewing machine repair and maintenance processes within the clothing sector, specifically Sewing Machine Mechanics as well as Sewing Machine Mechanic Assistants. This programme reflects the workplace-based needs within the sector. This Skills Programme provides the learner with accessibility to be employed in manufacturing support processes. This Skills Programme gives learners exposure to a set of elective competencies in respect of the maintenance and repair of the Lockstitch sewing machine, Overlock sewing machine and Cover-seam sewing machine.

LEARNERS MUST BE ABLE TO
This Skills Programme is designed to meet the needs of Pattern Making Personnel, Sample Machinists, Sewing Machine Operators, Design Room Personnel. This Skills Training Programme will provide the learner with the necessary skills and knowledge to design and make patterns for sewn products. Learners will draft a minimum of four basic blocks covering the upper and lower body. The learner will complete at least four patterns. Learners completing this Skills Programme will also demonstrate an understanding of quality procedures and practices.

The Skills Programme is designed to equip learners with the necessary skills and knowledge required to plan resource requirements, understand and apply the concept of Line Balancing, whilst ensuring for the application of basic lean manufacturing principles

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This digital – online Team Leader Skills Programme is geared toward the development of First Line Supervisors and or Team Leaders, Set Leaders as well as individuals who are earmarked for development as Team Leaders. The Programme is designed to equip learners with a range of knowledge, skills, values and attitudes related to Planning, Organising, Leading and Controlling. The programme scope covers four key areas, namely Leadership, Self-Management, People Management and Management Practices.
The E-Learning course is aimed at developing the team leading skills of team leaders, supervisors, and junior management. Each unit standard comprises 4-5 modules, the content of which are presented to the programme participants through video clips, downloadable documents, multiple choice quizzes, and formative activities.
Topics covered in the E-learning course include:
A summative assessment is conducted at the end of each unit standard during a compulsory contact session.
